The Śrīmad Bhāgavata Purāṇa (also called the Bhāgavatam) is the most influential Purāṇa for Vaiṣṇavism — 18,000 verses across 12 cantos (skandhas). Its tenth canto — the longest — tells the complete life of Kṛṣṇa from Mathurā to Dvārakā, the direct narrative extension of the Bhagavad Gītā.
